- Ref. Emergency, Collision
- Identify extend of damage
- Consider steps to safeguard the vessel
- Consider risks of pollution, fire and explosion (Ref. Emergency, Fire at sea)
- If possible, try to isolate tank
- Safety of crew and ship is priority
- Inform Company, Local P &I and any third party if necessary
- If possible, start immediate action
- Enter all measures and actions taken in logbook
