APEC-related information Canada 2001
For Canada, involvement in APEC is a means to stimulate both the economic and the social development of the region, and hence, to contribute to a more dynamic environment at home. We achieve these objectives in different ways. For instance, Canada has developed an Individual Action Plan (IAP) to identify measures that it will take so as to implement freer trade and investment in the APEC region. Also, to ensure that a broad range of Canadian interests are taken into account in APEC, Canadian government departments are active in APEC's various working groups and committees in many different sectors, ranging from forestry to industrial science. Lastly, the APEC Study Centre in Canada conducts research on regional issues of relevance to Canadians.
